Learn about Recertification Methods

Recertification reflects a deep person commitment to lifelong learning and quality patient care. Maintaining your CNOR credential also strengthens your role as a leader in the perioperative community. Certificants may choose from one of three methods to demonstrate your ongoing competency maintenance.

  1. Contact Hours - earn 125 contact hours over five years.
  2. Points - accrue 300 points over five years.  This is a great option for nurses who have gone back to school.
  3. Exam – retake the CNOR exam.

All three methods require you to commit time to further your knowledge and to stay current with the latest perioperative practice standards.

Please note, each method will take you approximately the same amount of time to complete. Select your method and plan accordingly to make sure you have met all requirements prior to submitting your application.
