Board of Directors

RN Position: As the highest level volunteer position with CCI, the Board of Directors are leaders in the perioperative profession. The main function of the Board is to oversee and steer policy and direction and assist with leadership and promotion of CCI, so as to support the organization & mission and needs.

  • Eligibility Requirement:  Must be CNOR certified and currently active in the perioperative practice and have a minimum of a Bachelor degree. Must have volunteered on a CCI test development or ad hoc committee. Having experience as a Board member for another professional organization is a plus.
  • Travel Required:  Yes various locations. CCI provides all airfare and hotel accommodations.
  • Time Commitment:  3 year term commitment, with an option for reappointment for a second 3 year term. Each year, Board members are required to attend 3 Board meetings in various locations. Expect 6-8 hours of independent Board work per month.

Public Board Member Position

Patient safety is at the heart of the CCI vision and mission. Including a Public Member as a full and equal voting member of the Board of Directors reflects that commitment. The Public Member is a non-RN member of the public who brings the consumer's perspective the the Board dialogue, deliberations and decision making.

CNOR Item/Test Form Review

Committee members meet to review all usable questions selected for each examination form. Such matters as correctness of answers, prevention of geographic bias, language clarity and appropriateness of items are considered during the item review process. The Committee review constitutes a final check and balance system on the reliability of the examination. No previous experience is necessary. Training is provided by CCI’s test development partner, Prometric.

  • Eligibility Requirement:  Must be CNOR certified and currently active in the perioperative practice.
  • Travel Required:  Yes - Denver, CO.  CCI provides all airfare and hotel accommodations.
  • Time Commitment:  2 full days.
  • Other Requirements:  Should you be selected, CCI will require you to submit a current resume and sign an agreement of confidentiality.

CNOR Item Writing

Writers develop their test questions (items) according to test plan specifications and meticulously validate them in standard texts appropriate for CNORs. Writers must also draw upon their experience and expertise to develop realistic settings for perioperative patients and to present accurate and valid information in all details of their test questions (items). Individuals selected for writing test questions (items) will receive training and materials on how to write a valid, defensible test question. You will also receive an honorarium from CCI.

  • Eligibility Requirement:  Must be CNOR certified and currently active in the perioperative practice.
  • Travel Required:  No - work remotely with guidance.
  • Time Commitment:  2 hour training via web, remote item writing will have a start and end date, time spent on writing items will vary depending on the number of items to be written.
  • Other Requirements:  Should you be selected, CCI will require you to submit a current resume and sign an agreement of confidentiality.

CNOR Job Analysis

Review the overall functions and responsibilities as well as the underlying knowledge and skills that are essential to ensure proficiency as a CNOR. This committee has the most extensive time commitment.

  • Eligibility Requirement:  Must be CNOR certified and currently active in the perioperative practice.
  • Travel Required:  Yes – Denver, CO. CCI provides all airfare and hotel accommodations.
  • Time Commitment:  2-day in person meeting, follow by remote teleconference meetings throughout the year.

Job Analysis for the Certificate Program for Surgical Services Educators

The Certificate Program for Surgical Services Educators is a self-paced program which provides the nurse educator with the information and tools to offer quality orientation and profession development opportunities to those persons functioning in the perioperative setting. It is important that the information in the program is current and accurately reflects the perioperative educator role. In preparation for an update to the materials, CCI is currently recruiting volunteers for the Surgical Services Educator Job Analysis Task Force.

  • Eligibility Requirement:  Must be currently practicing in a perioperative educator role; subject matter experts in adult learning, teaching strategies, and learner styles.

Publications Writer
