To recertify by contact hours, you are required to earn 125 contact hours, of which 75 hours must be related to perioperative nursing, within a five year period. In order to use any continuing education activity, you will need to have received a certificate of completion awarding you contact hours with an accreditation statement on it from one of the acceptable accredited providers. You will need to enter and maintain these contact hours in your CCI online account (more information below).
A common problem regarding contact hours is annual/refresher training which lack certificates awarding contact hours with accreditation statements from our list of acceptable providers (e.g. Back Safety, Standard Precautions, HIPAA Refresher training). If your certificates do not award contact hours and/or do not have an accreditation statement from one of the acceptable accredited providers, you may not use these hours for recertification.
- Your credential is still good for a five year period.
- You still have five years to earn contact hours.
- Your application is still due on July 1st to recertify your credential with a $50 discount.
You will use your CCI Account Portal to track your contact hours. CCI recommends that you log your hours as you earn them. To start, login to your account. At the top in the blue bar, select "My CNOR". Navigate to the "Continuing Education" tab and select the orange button "Report Contact Hours".
