National Council of State Boards of Nursing APRN Roundtable
CCI attended the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) APRN Roundtable, held in Chicago on April 9. Attendees were provided with a legislative update with an overview of states’ positions on title, role, education, certification, licensure, practice autonomy, and prescriptive authority. Five states are already fully aligned with the Consensus Model, nearly 2 years ahead of the proposed implementation date of 2015. A panel consisting of all four APRN roles (Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) led a discussion on such diverse topics as removing barriers to practice and filling the gap in primary care. Ample time was provided for attendees to ask questions and network with other nurses from across the country. Visit the NCSBN website for additional information related to the Roundtable.
